Why
has SketchUp made such a splash in the architecture world?
If you ask our users there seems to be a consistent theme in their
answers. Our goal is to give you the best possible tool for bringing
your designs to life. We admit it, we are 3D nuts and we want others
to experience the power and excitement-- not just the young guns
out of school or the computer geeks -- everyone! SketchUp was built
on the philosophy that a small, powerful toolset that did it's best
to capture the spirit of drawing, would be the most effective way
of enabling designers to express themselves -- without constraints.
We want to get software 'out of the way' of the design process.
We also know that everyone has a different work flow; everyone
has different ways of expressing themselves. That is why SketchUp
was created as a tool to work in your process. If you want to use
SketchUp to do rough massing which you then print out and sketch
over - fantastic. If you want to make a detailed model and walk
the client through your design -- perfect. If you want to pass your
work off to your favorite CAD system to create CD's -- no problem.
We will not tell you how or what to design -- we are just here to
help you.
We certainly understand all the standard business motivations for
justifying a software purchase -- improved design time,
dollars saved, minimal training, etc. but here is one you
don't hear too often and we think it is just as important as the
rest -- fun! SketchUp is a blast!Enough from us,
what are the users saying....
"SketchUp has, I have to say changed my life. Sounds dramatic
but true, I have rediscovered my profession because I can design
so quickly"
Andrew Lemon, WS Atkins - Abu Dhabi
"Just in a year and a half It has saved us thousands of hours
and transformed the way we work. Congratulations on the best design
tool ever."
John Elliott, AA Dipl RIBA , Senior VP, WATG
"Those in our office who are using SketchUp are somewhat flabbergasted
that software can be really fun AND really useful AND really productive."
Victor Kolouch, Architectural Designer
"SketchUp is the finest (and most innovative) tool available
for anyone designing anything from coffeepots to skyscrapers. In
my office, it's approaching indispensable."
