New - Google SketchUp 6 Features.

Google SketchUp Pro 6 now lets you create 3D models from photographs, match existing models to background photos, render sketchy effects and fog and mark your models with 3D text, logos and watermarks. With the new Styles palette, you have easy access to a collection of display settings, which you can save and share. You also have greater control, with new features like enhanced modifier keys that let you perform operations like “copy” while you move, rotate or push/pull.

LayOut
LayOut (beta) is a collection of new tools for Google SketchUp Pro 6 (Pro only feature) that makes it easy to build professional looking design presentations from your SketchUp models.

Matching to a photo:
By matching to a photo, you are able to create a 3D model by tracing a photo or matching an existing model to a background photo. Matching to a photo allows you to designate lines in a photograph that correspond to the axes in Google SketchUp. Then SketchUp calculates the camera position and field of view to equate the modeling environment to the photograph. You can also apply photos to one or more model surfaces or link photos taken from different viewpoints to re-create multiple sides of a building.

Styles
Styles are collections of display settings, including new options like Watermarks and Sketchy Effects, saved in the new Styles palette. You can create, save, and organize Styles as well as share Styles with others. With a single click, you can quickly apply a style to any model by selecting it from the new Styles window. Styles include two new display settings: Watermarks and Sketchy Effects. You can place watermark images within your 2D screen space as backgrounds or overlays, and use Sketchy Effects to add a hand-drawn appearance to SketchUp edges. Best of all, these features work together in 3D to give new depth as you create and present your designs.

Watermarks:
The Watermarks feature enables you to place 2D images behind or in front of models. Images placed in the background can be used to create landscapes, skies, or the effect that your model is drawn on a textured surface like canvas. Images placed in the foreground allow you to mark models with a logo or designate them "For Review" or "Confidential." You can control the transparency, position, scale, and tiling of Watermarks. Watermarks is included in the Styles palette.

Sketchy Effects:
Sketchy Effects will add a new hand-drawn dimension to your models. You can render edges to look as if they were drawn with actual line strokes. Sketchy Effects are contained in the Styles palette.

Style Builder
Style Builder (beta) is a brand new tool that you can use to create your own sketchy-edge Styles. You can apply these Styles to your models to make them look hand-rendered.

Fog:
Fog adds atmospheric haze to a model to set a mood or create a sense of depth. You can adjust the color and density of fog for interesting non-photorealistic possibilities.

3D Text:
3D Text converts text to 2D outlines, filled surfaces, or extruded 3D objects. It’s easy to create signs and letters directly in SketchUp using the new 3D text tool. This tool will create both 2D and 3D: simple vector outlines, filled 2D surfaces or fully extruded 3D text objects.

Google Earth and 3D Warehouse Plugins:
If you use Google Earth, Google SketchUp allows you to place your models using real-world coordinates and share them with the world using the 3D Warehouse.
